Dealers want their taglines to help connect consumers to their brands of automobiles. They usually like effective ones that stick around long enough for them to get their arms around. But, as the dynamics of social media and branding continue to change, so does the tagline. This abrupt switch is becoming more common, but it hurts auto dealers more than it helps them. They need time to accomplish their brand positioning, and changing too often is fickle, and could hinder auto sales.
Dealers need a branded tagline that will stand the test of time, like BMW’s “The Ultimate Driving Machine,” or Toyota’s “What A Feeling.” Automotive taglines should be specific, memorable, represent the spirit of the brand, and should convey the overall message in a short, sweet statement. Here are some successful, recognizable ones:
