Working With Your Head Vs. Your Heart
The finale of Celebrity Apprentice proved that working with your head OR your heart can achieve success. However, since Bret Michaels won the challenge, and he definitely worked with heart, does this say something about an emerging era of more emotional business practices?
It’s the proverbial strict business-by-the-book ethic versus using inspiration, passion and sometimes even humor to drive production. Their task was to create a new Snapple flavor tea, a TV spot and supportive print collateral that incorporated their respective charities. While the runner-up, Holly was organized and methodical, Bret was more flexible and creative, pushing the envelope and designing a campaign outside the box.
He won the judges over and gained his success with raw determination, a deep, personal connection to the cause and never giving up. Although Holly was also tenacious and personally connected to her charity, she was a bit more uptight and stern in her delivery.

Both were very good candidates who put their best efforts forth. In this day and age, I believe it is more important to have a creative approach like Bret’s, in all business dealings (perhaps because I am a visionary in a creative environment - or because of innovative movements more easily followed via the world wide web - or just because artists like Bret Michaels are winning in megacorps like Mr. Trump’s). I suppose all highly successful people use a winning combination of both “head” and “heart.”
Which prevails in your business - your head or your heart?
